Accessibility at OpenStax
Accessibility is a top priority at OpenStax, and we continuously work to improve the accessibility of our resources. Our goal is to ensure that all OpenStax webpages and web-based learning materials adhere to accessible design best practices. We are committed to meeting the W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. These standards help make digital content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.
The text in our books, including headers, features, and exercises, is designed for maximum on-screen readability. Mathematical content is delivered in MathML, an accessible format that works with screen readers and can be customized with CSS. Although some complex mathematical graphics appear as images, each one includes detailed alternative text to support understanding. Several of our titles are also available through Bookshare in BRF and/or DAISY formats, further enhancing accessibility.
You can find OpenStax’s Accessibility Statement and Accessibility Conformance Report (completed VPAT) on our Accessibility Statement webpage.
