How do you determine what books you publish?
How OpenStax selects titles to publish
Our goal is to increase access to education for as many students as possible. When deciding which titles to publish, we consider two key factors:
- The number of students taking the course nationwide
- The cost of existing textbooks for that course
Expanding into new courses
Expansion into new courses depends on whether a new title provides an opportunity to significantly reduce costs for students. We rely on grant funding to create new titles, and we use these criteria to pursue funding that will have the largest possible impact.
