How does OpenStax avoid political bias in its textbooks?

How we ensure balanced content

Each OpenStax textbook is developed with the support of dozens of college faculty contributors and reviewers, selected to represent a variety of institution types, research backgrounds, geographic regions, and student audiences.

In textbooks or disciplines where political or other bias may be a concern, we take specific steps to ensure balanced representation of the subject matter. Textbook content often includes multiple perspectives on politically influenced topics, and we ask faculty reviewers direct questions regarding political balance and other potentially sensitive topics.

Customizing OpenStax textbooks

OpenStax textbooks may be customized to meet the needs of a specific course or the viewpoints of an individual instructor. Instructors and institutions can create a customized version of any OpenStax textbook.
