Integrating OpenStax textbooks with your learning management system

How can I integrate OpenStax materials into my LMS?

Instructors have successfully used a variety of methods to integrate OpenStax materials into their LMS for their courses, utilizing tools such as the Online View, PDF format, and OpenStax Assignable.

Online View

Instructors copy the links to the assigned section and paste the links directly to the LMS (or syllabus within the LMS). Students then follow the links directly to the textbook or the assigned material. The links will remain the same even after updates are made.

Most OpenStax titles have course cartridges/packages with links to each chapter and section. Check the Instructor Resources to see if this option is available for your OpenStax title.

PDF Format

You can also upload the text in PDF format to your LMS. The PDF format is available to download on the book's details page. Please note that the PDF file can be quite large and may result in long load times.

OpenStax Assignable

OpenStax has developed a tool that enables instructors to create customized assignments directly within their Learning Management Systems (LMS). To learn more about OpenStax Assignable and check if it's available for your OpenStax title, visit openstax.org/assignable.
