What do I get from Kinetic?

When you participate in Kinetic you will receive study feedback and learning techniques from a dedicated team of scientific researchers at Rice University and other institutions.

After taking part in each study, you will gain a better understanding of yourself as a learner, along with tips and techniques to help you learn more effectively. Because we recognize your time and effort, you will also earn points with each study, increasing your chances of winning one of our prizes, including Apple and Amazon gift cards.

What type of studies will I find in Kinetic?

On Kinetic, we are currently exploring topics such as personality, memory, learning techniques and study strategies, science and math education, and future career planning. Many studies will ask you to reflect on your perspectives, beliefs, and life experiences, while others will ask you to draw from your own knowledge to answer brief assessments. We also offer several studies that include short lessons on math, biology, and psychology topics.

How much time do I need to complete a study?

Our studies run on average between 5 and 10 minutes, with longer studies lasting up to about 30 minutes. The longer the study you participate in, the more points you earn. The estimated time for completion is available on each study's description page.

What type of study feedback can I get from Kinetic?

Feedback ranges from insights based on your survey responses and scores on brief quizzes, to tailored suggestions on how to improve your learning and retention based on how you performed in a study.

What type of prizes can I win with Kinetic?

Every semester is split into three separate reward cycles with prizes of progressively higher value, for example 20 x $10 Domino's gift cards and 10 x $30 Nike gift cards, with a final grand giveaway such as 3 x $200 Apple gift cards. The more studies you complete, the higher your odds of winning.

What can I do to increase my chances of getting a prize?

To be entered into the prize drawings, simply participate in studies to earn the required number of total points by the end of each reward cycle. To qualify for the Grand Giveaway, you will need to complete some of our longer studies. Winners will receive an email containing their gift card and redemption information.

Are the questions About Me mandatory?

Your participation in Kinetic is entirely voluntary, and every activity is always opt-in. For any survey question about you, there is a "prefer not to answer" option if you do not wish to disclose specific information.
