Purchasing an OpenStax textbook on Amazon
This article covers how to spot an unofficial print copy and how to return a print copy purchased through Amazon.
Unofficial print copies
OpenStax textbooks are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. This allows anyone to use, adapt, and share our content for noncommercial purposes. Occasionally, third-party sellers (not affiliated with OpenStax) offer printed versions of our textbooks on Amazon. These unofficial versions may differ in quality, formatting, or content from the official OpenStax editions.
To ensure you receive an official OpenStax textbook, check the Amazon listing carefully. The publisher and seller should be listed as OpenStax or Kendall Hunt Publishing.
Returns
All print textbook transactions for personal copy orders, including ordering, distribution, refunds, and returns, are handled through Amazon.com. If the seller was not OpenStax, refunds will need to be processed through the seller from whom you purchased the book. For more information, visit Amazon's refund and return policy page.
Missing volume from a two-volume set
Sometimes two-volume sets are unwrapped during shipping, causing the volumes to be separated. We are working to resolve this issue. In the meantime, if you have only received one volume of your order, please go to your Amazon orders and select Return or Replace. Select Wrong Item and use the Comment box to let them know you received only one part of your order.
