OpenStax Assignable assessment questions FAQs

In this article, you will find answers to the following questions about OpenStax Assignable assessment questions:

Are the questions in Assignable the same questions that appear in OpenStax’s online test banks?
No. We don't currently offer test banks for the titles available in Assignable (Anatomy and Physiology 2e, Biology 2e, Concepts of Biology, Introduction to Sociology 3e, Psychology 2e, and U.S. History).

What type of questions are available (multiple choice, free response, etc.)?
A range of question types are available - including multiple-choice and free-response questions. There are also open-ended case studies, critical thinking questions, reflection questions, and discussion and debate questions. Additionally, Assignable offers interactive questions (e.g., drag-and-drop labels). However, you cannot select individual questions to include in assignments. Rather, questions are included in pre-configured assessments.

How many questions are available to choose from (total number available in the question bank)?
Each available book has several thousand Assignable questions. However, you cannot pick and choose these questions as you would from a typical test bank. When instructors choose chapters/sections from their book to assign, the tool will pull a set of questions available to assign for that chapter/section and subsequently create an assignment. Instructors cannot choose individual questions to assign.

Can I edit questions?
No. Currently, the question bank in Assignable cannot be edited. All assessment questions that appear in Assignable are also All Rights Reserved.

Can I create my own questions?
No. Currently, the question bank in Assignable cannot be edited. All assessment questions that appear in Assignable are also All Rights Reserved.

Who created the questions available in Assignable? Are they peer-reviewed?
All questions included in Assignable are created and peer-reviewed by faculty, our textbook authors, and other subject matter experts. Many questions come from the end-of-chapter exercises and questions included in our textbooks.
