Student steps for accessing OpenStax textbooks and Student Resources
How do I get started with OpenStax as a student?

Accessing Your OpenStax Textbook
OpenStax digital textbooks are free to access on openstax.org or as downloadable PDFs. For the screenshots below, we'll use OpenStax College Success as an example. To access the various formats of your textbook, follow these steps:
- Visit openstax.org/subjects and select the category for your textbook.
- Locate the book you wish to use on the Categories page and click on the textbook's cover or title. This will take you to the book's details page where all of the formats and resources available for your book are located.
- Click on your preferred format on the left under the Get the book heading. All available formats of the textbook will be found on the book's details page. If you are looking for additional formats, please let us know at support@openstax.org.
The process for your school to use our materials is exactly the same! Following the steps above, anyone can access our materials. If your instructor doesn't currently use an OpenStax textbook, feel free to recommend OpenStax and direct them to support@openstax.org if they have any questions.
Purchasing a Print Copy
Many OpenStax books are available for purchase in print at an affordable price. If you'd like a physical copy, you can buy one through your campus bookstore or by selecting Order a print copy under the Get the book heading and clicking the orange Order a print copy button. This will redirect you to our print partner, Kendall Hunt's website, where you can complete your purchase.
Accessing Student Resources
Once you are on your textbook's page, you can view the student resources by clicking on the Student Resources tab.
If you're looking for the Student Solutions for your textbook, they will typically be found at the end of the book under the "Answer Key" section or on your book's Student Resources tab (if a solution manual has been created for your textbook).
Some textbooks may require you to create a student account to unlock the Student Resources. For instructions on creating a student account, visit our help article on creating a student account.
