Importing the D2L Cartridge Instructions

How do I import an OpenStax course cartridge into Brightspace/D2L?

The D2L course cartridge contains individual links to each section of the OpenStax textbook. All available additional resources can be downloaded from the Instructor Resources tab.

Note: To highlight and add notes to the embedded textbook pages, students must create a free student account on openstax.org and remain logged in to their student account to save their highlights. We recommend sharing this link with your students in your syllabus, course website, or email at the start of the semester: How to Create a Student Account on OpenStax.org.

  1. After logging into your verified OpenStax Educator account, download the D2L Cartridge for your book from the openstax.org Instructor Resources page. Open and save the file to your computer to access later.
  2. Log in to your account on the Brightspace/D2L platform.
  3. In the top right corner, click the settings icon and select Import/Export/Copy Components.

If you run into any issues setting up your cartridge, please contact your school's LMS or IT administrators, as they will have the best information on your school's D2L instance.
