Supplemental Resources for OpenStax Textbooks

What supplemental resources are available for OpenStax textbooks?

We aim to provide as many high-quality supplemental resources as possible. OpenStax offers four main types of supplemental resources to support teaching and learning:

Throughout this article, we'll use screenshots from OpenStax College Success to demonstrate where to find each type of supplemental resource on openstax.org.

OpenStax Instructor Resources

OpenStax creates a specific set of resources for instructors that align with each textbook. These resources are developed using grant funding at the time of publication, so they vary from book to book.

To view instructor resources:

  1. Visit the Subjects page.
  2. Click on your book's category.
  3. Click on the cover of your textbook.
  4. Select the Instructor Resources tab.
  5. On the Instructor Resources page, you'll see all materials available for your textbook. Be sure to scroll down the page to view the full list of available resources, as some items may be located further down.

To download these materials, instructors need an OpenStax Educator account. This account must be verified to ensure that assessment-related resources are used appropriately. Learn how to request access in our Requesting Instructor-only access to the resources on openstax.org help article. Once verified, log in to access resources for any OpenStax textbook.

OpenStax Student Resources

Every OpenStax textbook comes with Student Resources that anyone can access and use at any time.

To find the student resources:

  1. Visit the Subjects page.
  2. Click on your book's category.
  3. Click on the cover of your textbook.
  4. Select the Student Resources tab.

If student solutions are not included in the OpenStax textbook, a Student Solution Manual will be available on the Student Resources page. Some books may require students to create an account on openstax.org to access the manual.
